Roma Termini railway station is one of the main hubs of public transport inside Rome and has regular train services to all major Italian cities as well as international services. Metro lines, trambus and bus lines connect it to any part of the city. It was opened in 1867 by Pope Pius IX, who defined it as “the railway station of the Italian capital city” and nowadays, after many renovations, we can still see a typical example of 1950’s architecture. This area bears testimony of various ages, with its many historic sites such as the Thermae of Diocletian, the grandest of the public baths in Rome, which were built between 298 and 306 A.D, the Fountain of the Naiads in the Piazza della Repubblica, the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels and other prestigious monuments.
