Area The fifth district - Margareten Margareten, the fifth district of Vienna, is located adjacent to the city centre and therefore counts as one of the city’s inner districts. It is a heavily populated urban area, with many residential homes and an eclectic mix of workers, middl(hidden)ss, Bohemians and students. Its proximity to the city centre, and surrounding inner districts make it a great starting point to explore Vienna and the city’s most notable sights. Visit Margareten Square (Margaretenplatz), the district’s biggest older square, to experience the area’s local charm. To the Northwest, the district is bordered by the Naschmarkt – an unconventional, lively market place, lined with everything from exotic spices, regional specialities, high-end restaurants to cute little delis. The location The apartment is located in Siebenbrunnengasse, a smaller street parallel to the main street Rechte Wienzeile. If you stroll down this street, you will arrive at the Naschmarkt in 15 minutes, and the city centre in 25 minutes. If you cross over both the Rechte and Linke Wienzeile, you will already find yourself in the equally charming 6th district. Directly across from the apartment, you will find the supermarket Hofer. The metro station Pilgramgasse, which connects you to the U4 is just 10 minutes walking from your door. The U4 will take you directly to the beautiful Schönbrunn Palace and Gardens Complex, a must-see sight during your visit to Vienna. If you take the line in the opposite direction, you will find yourself in the city centre in just a few minutes. Bars and restaurants Margareten Square (Margaretenplatz) is home to a historic building complex called “Schlossquadrat”, with roots back to the 14th century, where you will find several restaurants to choose from – for traditional Austrian cuisine try Silberwirt, if you prefer pizza, pasta and fish, go to the Trattoria Margareta. Our café favourites include Cuadro, where you can enjoy breakfast until 4pm in the afternoon in the cute café garden, and Kaffee von Sascha, where you can sip a coffee while you taste authentic Ukranian sweets. For those that want a more traditional Viennese café experience, we recommend a visit to Café Siebenbrunnen or Gregor’s Konditorei. During your stay, you also cannot miss heading down to Naschmarkt for a breakfast, lunch or dinner. Our recommendations include Deli Naschmarkt for a light lunch, or On Market with its exotic interior for some fine Asian cuisine.
