If something goes wrong — whether the listing is not as described, the landlord cancels last minute, or there’s an unexpected delay — our Tenant Protection gives you peace of mind. We offer support, protect your money, and give you a refund if eligible.

24/7 scam monitoring
Our AI-powered scam protection system spots and removes scam listings and accounts within minutes of their creation. If a landlord is reported as a fraud, they get banned immediately.
We verify the people you rent from
We verify all landlords and their bank accounts with Stripe, our secure identification partner. This service is included in your fee, so you don't have to worry about who you're paying via HousingAnywhere.
Safe payment handling
We keep your first payment made through HousingAnywhere safe until you move in. This allows you to move in and see if the place matches the listing description when you applied to rent. If something isn't right, tell us within 48 hours of the move-in date so we can hold your money and investigate. Otherwise, we'll transfer your first month's rent to the landlord.
Protection against the unexpected
If the landlord cancels your booking last minute or delays the move-in, we will step in to help. We'll assist you in finding another similar place, arrange a temporary hotel stay, or refund your first month's rent and Tenant Protection fee.
Move-in with confidence
We only send your first month's rent to the landlord 2 days after your official move-in date. If the place is vastly different from the listing description when you applied to rent, submit the official "Cancel rental" form within 48 hours to be eligible for a full refund.

How much is the Tenant Protection fee?
Tenant Protection is a one-time fee of 25%-40% of your first month's rent. You pay this when you submit your rental application, and it's only charged if the landlord offers you their place. This fee is automatically included in all bookings and it's not possible to opt out. Charging this fee for all bookings is our way of ensuring that we can offer everyone the same level of protection.
