HousingAnywhere Temporarily Waives Fees for New Bookings (updated)

- No service or commission fee for bookings with move-in date until September 30

- Waiving of fee part of HousingAnywhere’s program to help landlords get back on track

Original article April 21, updated June 1, 2020 - Rental accommodation platform HousingAnywhere is temporarily dropping all service fees. New bookings with a move-in date up until September 30, 2020 will not be charged any service or commission fee. “HousingAnywhere wants to brave the COVID-19 storm together with its users – landlords and tenants who have all suffered its direct effects,” says Djordy Seelmann, CEO of HousingAnywhere. “We want to help landlords stay afloat in these difficult times, while also making renting a little bit easier for tenants who could undoubtedly use a financial break.” The temporary removal of fees is part of a bigger program HousingAnywhere is launching to help landlords get back on track.

Removing barriers

In the second week of March, with the corona crisis breaking out in Europe, bookings dropped by nearly 90 percent on the platform. In Italy, the European country hit hardest by the outbreak, the rental market virtually came to a standstill. Seelmann:

In the past two weeks the trend broke and we saw a slight recovery in interest, both on a local and international level. We want to support the businesses of our landlords by removing barriers preventing them from securing new bookings. That is why we have decided to temporarily waive the service fees for both landlords and tenants. When international travel restrictions will be lifted is something we’ll have to see. In the meantime, we want to contribute to keeping our landlords’ businesses afloat and get their properties booked as easily as possible.

Getting back on track

The COVID-19 pandemic has hit the international market for mid-term accommodation rentals hard, now that international mobility has come to a halt. Seelmann: “We are pleased to announce that waiving the fee is only the first part of the program HousingAnywhere is launching to help landlords get their businesses back on track. In the next two months, we will announce further details about this program, which will feature new product optimizations and solutions to make renting out even easier and give our landlords more control over their portfolio. It’s our mission to help people with housing, anywhere. By temporarily dropping our fees, we’re taking the first step in helping our users through this difficult time by ensuring booking your next home remains affordable and accessible”.
