If you are also looking for a neighborhood that offers plenty of outdoor activities, along with convenient transportations options, be sure to consider the 21st and 22nd districts.

To get more of an impression about Vienna’s neighborhoods, let’s take a closer look from the perspective of a local in our fact-filled Vienna City Guide!

Common Housing Practices

Once you have decided to move to Vienna, you should begin exploring information about the many neighborhoods that are popular amongst students. This can take both time and money, even more so if you have your heart set on a particular locale.

Be sure to have money set aside for all aspects of housing, including the deposit, often called a Kaution, typically adding up to the total of two to three months of rent. Don’t forget to inquire into all that the price of rent does include, such as water, gas, electricity or Wi-Fi. If they are included, you will have to pay these costs additionally. Also negotiate the duration of the rental agreement, which can often be set for one semester or one calendar year.

Students have several options when it comes to housing in Vienna. You can choose between student dormitories, shared apartments or private rooms. Keep in mind that Vienna is a capital city, so expect the rent to be a little higher than other locales.

If you don’t want the often hectic lifestyle of living in a student dormitory, you can also opt to share a flat or apartment with just a few other like-minded students. Plus, this can be a great way to mingle with others and quickly make new friends.

To make finding a room in a shared apartment much easier, along with both faster and safer, Housing Anywhere can provide the information that you will need to be able to explore your options.
