Students in Vienna have the opportunity to live in dormitories while studying. Admissions for dormitories may differ from one learning institution to another, so be sure to check the rules and regulations as they pertain to you and other international students. Always begin to make your housing arrangements at least six months before the term begins. Exploring the internet is one of the best ways to find housing in the city of Vienna.
If you’d rather live off campus, there are plenty of other alternatives to living in a dormitory. Many students enjoy sharing a flat or an apartment during their time in Vienna. To make finding a room fast and easy, be sure to check out Housing Anywhere .
Of course, when you move to Vienna, you will want to consider the different neighborhoods and which amenities matter to you the most. Next, you’ll need to set some time aside to locate a room, especially if you are specific in your requirements.
Finally, you will need to be sure that you have set aside enough money to pay for housing, including the deposit, which typically adds up to two or three months of rent.
Before signing a contract for housing, be sure to understand what the rent includes, such as additional costs like gas, electric, water or Wi-Fi. Sometimes these may be included, or other times they must be paid additionally by the renter. Also check on the duration of the lease, and whether it includes one or two semesters, or even one calendar year.
Also remember that Vienna is a capital city, so the prices may be higher than what you might expect in some other European cities. So keep this in mind when deciding between living in a dormitory or sharing an apartment. However, if it is important to you to really mingle with the people of Vienna and experience the Austrian culture, you may want to go with renting an apartment through Housing Anywhere.
