The sixth district - Mariahilf Mariahilf, the sixth district of Vienna is located near the city centre and counts as one of the inner districts of the city. While it is the second smallest district of Vienna, it is densely populated and a mixture of lively shopping streets, relaxed cafés and historic buildings gives it a distinct, charming feel. Main sights include the Mariahilfer Church, Haydn House, where famous composer Joseph Haydn lived and composed, Theater an der Wien, Raimund Theater, and the House of the Sea (Haus des Meeres). Secret tip: from the top of the almost 50-meter House of the Sea, you can enjoy a stunning view over Vienna. Many beautiful churches and art nouveau-style houses by Otto Wagner line the narrow streets, making it the perfect area to stroll through. The district is bordered by the lively Mariahilfer Strasse, a popular semi-pedestrianized shopping street full of boutiques, shops, bars and restaurants on one side, and by the Naschmarkt one the other side. The Naschmarkt is an unconventional, lively market place, lined with everything from exotic spices, regional specialities, high-end restaurants to cute little delis. Despite its small size, Mariahilf is one of the most eclectic districts of the city, full of small designer boutiques, art galleries, startup office spaces, and food stores for every nutritional style. The location The apartment is located in Otto-Brauer-Gasse, only a five-minute walk from the Mariahilfer Strasse. The metro stations Zieglergasse, Neubaugasse and Westbahnhof are in 5 minutes walking distance from the apartment, connecting you to the lines U3 and U6. From Westbahnhof you further have access to the tram line 5. The city centre is only 20 minutes away on foot, or less than 10 minutes by U3. There are bars, cafés, restaurants, supermarkets and a pharmacy all within walking distance. All the main sights are easily accessible on foot or by public transportation, and the apartment makes a lovely starting point to experience Vienna city and the charming Mariahilf neighbourhood. Bars and restaurants Our guests will find a range of restaurants, cafes and bars all around the apartment. Take a short stroll to the peaceful Robert-Hamerling-Gasse across the Gürtel for some salty or sweet crêpes in the charming Crepos. For an experimental fine-dining experience, try Dots Sushi, located on Mariahilfer Strasse. Peter Pane is a good option for burgers, not only for normal but also for veggie. During your stay, you also cannot miss heading down to Naschmarkt for a breakfast, lunch or dinner.
