The building was constructed in 1875 by Prince Ernst Ferdinand of Windisch-Graetz as his Viennese Palais. He eventually passed it on to his son Prince Otto who in 1902 married Archduchess Elisabeth Marie of Habsburg-Lothringen, granddaughter of the legendary Empress Sissi of Austria and daughter to Rudolf the crown prince of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The couple lived in this building together with their four children for several years. The apartment is in the heart of Vienna's diplomatic quarter and just short walk to the first district and the subway stations at Stadtpark and Wien Mitte!
