Ciao, sono Sarah!
Hi there! We are a well-travelled, youngish Franco/British couple who have been renting out furnished rooms in our house to foreign students for 7 years now. As I was once a foreigner in France I know how very hard it is to find lodgings & understand how things work here, so we are here to help you. We can help you get a travel pass, look for part-time work, get a French bank account, I can help translate documents or even accompany you on medical visits to translate. We run a calm, zen household as we have students who come to do internships and serious students who want to study or write their thesis. This means that although we will have a laugh together around the kitchen table, during the working week people should refrain from disturbing the others from 11pm. You are welcome to party until any time in Paris, as long as you respect the noise for others when you return. We also rent rooms out to tourists and business people in summer via Airbnb (they have verified our passport information to prove we are real people & there are comments from people who have stayed with us or with whom we have stayed). To view photos of each room and our past and current students, just send me a friend request - we have had lots of different nationalities from many continents! The rent includes all bills & wifi & Netflix! and best of all you don't need to give us a complicated dossier that French owners ask for. We understand students are looking for short stays as we know some people are only here for4 or 6 months or 9 months. This is fine. The bus stop is a 5 minutes’ walk. We are a 20 min bus ride from Massy-Palaiseau station RER line B in the south suburbs of Paris – you can see the plan of the Parisian trains on (hidden website) ; It then takes about 25 minutes to get into central Paris (Chatelet). We are only 19km from Notre Dame in Paris by car & live in a unique green zone where the flore and faune are environmentally protected. You can even see the Eiffel Tower across the fields! We don't have children, just 3 friendly cats. The house is spacious. Each room is reasonably large with plenty of storage. There are 4 rooms available, 2 separate bathrooms, 2 toilets & full equipped kitchen, laundry room & large fridge for our students. We provide bedding, towels. RENT INCLUDES: Wifi, Netflix, handsoap, soap for dishwasher & washing machine, toilet roll & cleaning products. A cleaner also cleans the communal areas once a week. We can give you an Attestation d’Herbergement and help you get a French bank account, travel card etc etc. You can use the bathrooms, kitchen (includes a dining table), laundry room & front garden (the swimming pool & back garden is our private space but we will invite you to use it regularly when the hot weather comes). Free parking spaces for a bike & car. Friends & family are welcome to visit if you ask in advance & as long as they follow the house rules (basic respect for others in terms of noise & cleanliness) & as long as they do not stay permanently. What we will require when you arrive: - €700 cash deposit (returnable at end of rental period) - €520 rent (payable each month) - a photocopy of your parents utility bill - I will scan your passport upon arrival - an insurance (for the contract) “responsabilité civil habitation, incendie et dégâts des eaux”, I can help you get this & it should cost about €35 per year. We will sign a fixed-term contract with you, for a furnished room, starting on the 1st of the month and ending on the last day of the month. We are choosing YOU from a selection of lots of people so we expect people to stay for the length of time you tell us when we speak on (hidden)/skype. We don’t want people who are not serious and only stay for a few weeks because it means some other student has missed out which is unfair on them. This is not a hotel but our family home, no one is here to clean up after you so we will expect you to leave the public areas of the house how you find it – clean and tidy, especially the kitchen. Tranquillity & respect for others & cleanliness (public areas) is very important to us & those coming to live here, as is sharing our cultures & having lots of fun. Please PM or send me a friend request to ((hidden))/biki.framboise for more info! I have lots more photos in various albums which you can see if you send me a friend request. You are welcome to visit in person. For those who are unable, we normally Skype and show you round the house this way. Thanks for looking! Sarah
