The area is also home to the remains of the roman amphitheatre: Gallien palace, and the basilica of Saint-Seurin, an ancient structure with some of its features dating as far back as the 11th century! To the relief of its residents, the area remains a very peaceful part of Bordeaux, even though the basilica attracts many tourists since its classification by UNESCO. From this older Bordelais neighbourhood you can easily reach the up-market districts of Grands Hommes and Quinconces, and the residential areas of Croix Blanche and Mériadek.
