Rotterdam, December 15, 2020 - HousingAnywhere is extending its cancellation policy to offer more flexibility to landlords and tenants as a result of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Landlords using the platform will be able to choose between the Standard and Flexible cancellation policy for their rental agreements. Thanks to the new cancellation policy, landlords will be able to offer tenants flexibility and reassurance when committing to rental contracts for longer stays.
After HousingAnywhere saw an initial drop in demand in Q1, demand steadily returned throughout the Summer of 2020. Djordy Seelmann, CEO HousingAnywhere:
Landlords started offering more flexibility in contracts to attract young professionals moving for work and international students whose universities had opened up. We also saw a strong local-to-local rental market that flourished as a result of the travel bans impacting the US and Asia. With the second wave of the pandemic hitting our European markets, we want to further support landlords in offering this flexibility to tenants, and provide tenants the security they’re looking for when booking an apartment or room online.
As part of the added flexibility, advertisers will be able to decide what kind of cancellation policy they want to have on their rental contract. When renting a property that features the new flexible cancellation policy, tenants will be able to receive a refund of the first month’s rent based on the timeframe in which they cancel. Tenants will receive a full refund of the first month’s rent if they cancel up to 30 days before moving in. If the cancellation takes place between 30 and 7 days before moving in tenants will receive a 50% refund of the first month's rent. Lastly, tenants are not eligible for a refund if they cancel less than 7 days before the move-in date. HousingAnywhere’s Standard cancellation remains as is, meaning a tenant can get their money back if they cancel within 24 hours. After this cancellation period tenants are no longer eligible for a refund when booking with the Standard cancellation policy.
Any property that features the new cancellation policy will show a special “Flexible Cancellation” badge, to make them stand out to tenants looking for them. Thanks to the transparency in the easy cancellation overview, tenants will know exactly if they're eligible for a refund and how much the refund will be.
The Standard and Flexible Cancellation options are available to all HousingAnywhere landlords. For more information, visit HousingAnywhere's FAQ.
