Fontys University of Applied Sciences, or “Fontys,” as it is commonly known, is one of the Netherlands’ largest and most well-known universities. Its multiple campuses are in the southern region. With a large enrollment, international studies are a real focus at this university. Many courses are taught in English, making it very popular with incoming exchange students.
One of the best things about the university for international students is the partnerships that Fontys has established with other universities for exchange agreements. This is yet another reason for students to consider moving to Eindhoven for their time abroad.
Fontys University of Applied Sciences offers courses for exchange programs in the following areas:
Brainport is considered to be the center of technology in the Netherlands, which is why it is also home to the Eindhoven University of Technology, also known as TU/e. A great plus for its students is that the university also has numerous working relationships with various businesses and organizations that offer internships, projects and after-graduate work for students who have experience in the same field.
TU/e is also known for its friendly, welcoming atmosphere and its medium size, which makes the teacher-student ratio very desirable.
Eindhoven University of Technology partners with several other institutions to welcome students into its exchange program. These exchange students can participate in programs such as:
Exchange students continue to be enrolled at their home university, but they have the opportunity to take one or two semesters at TU/e. Additionally, the exchange may be free of charge, depending on the agreement between the two institutions. While there, students may study within their intended fields, write their thesis or take part in an internship or research project.
Exchange students can then transfer the credits that they earn through TU/e to work toward their degree through the European Credit Transfer System, based upon the agreement signed by the student, TU/e and the home university.
Exchange programs offer courses in the following fields of study:

The Strijp district, which was also once a Philips factory, has evolved into a renowned creative space. The Graduation Show/Dutch Design Week is held here, attracting participants and attendees from all over, making Eindhoven a real hot spot for entrepreneurs as well.
With its high popularity, Design Academy Eindhoven has a particular selection process for incoming international students. There are three reasons for this selection procedure:
The academy boasts a long history of exchange programs with a number of well-known institutions around the world. Therefore, exchanges are only possible for one fall semester, and it must be on the Bachelor level. Master students may apply, but the courses available will only be Bachelor-level courses.
