Health insurance in Denmark

All residents of Denmark are covered with equal and universal access to health insurance. As a student in Denmark, you will receive free medical treatments, except for dental and mental health.

Students from the EU/EEA or Switzerland

If you are going to be in Denmark for at least three months and are an EU/EEA citizen or from Switzerland, you can use your European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) for your health coverage in Denmark. You will receive the same benefits as the residents of Denmark, with all charges forwarded to the insurance service governing over your EHIC.

Students from outside the EU/EEA

If you are not a resident of Denmark or EU/EEA citizen, according to the Danish Health Act, you’ll have free emergency hospital care, which will cover childbirth, an accident, a serious illness or a reoccurrence of a chronic illness or disease.
